DIY Kids Craft Ideas for Fall Halloween!
Posted on September 20 2017
Fall!! It is my favorite time of year! I love everything about it! The smell of the cooler air, pumpkins, spiced Starbucks lattes, boots...everything. In Mid August, we were in Hobby Lobby and my kiddos had to push me out before I started buying fall decor! They told me it was too early and I had a problem. I just think I am proactive and planning ahead! I love to decorate and I love EASY craft ideas to do with your kiddos. If they keep them occupied for more than 5 minutes, the craft gets extra bonus points. Below are some of my favorites and are quick and easy. I am not one to plan ahead a craft for my kids hours ahead of time. I like the grab and create crafts:)
1. Pine Cone Painting
I think I like this idea because it can entertain them for awhile - getting into all those little crevices. Finger paint is also a good ideas for this one. If you have pine cones out your back door like I do, this makes for a quick last minute craft. I have a painting tarp I just lay on the floor - or better yet on the grass outside! Now I probably won't hang these as amazing home decor, but a cute gift for grandparents....
2. Yarn Pumpkins
This is a cute idea for older kids. You just need glue, balloons, orange string and some pipe cleaners. 1. Blow up balloon 2.Glue string around the balloon with Elmer's glue 3. Allow to dry 4. Pop Balloon 5. and Add some green and brown pipe cleaners for the stem. That's it. The kids will love the gluing part, and popping the balloon is a win win for kids. Just make sure it is completely dry first.
3. Smell My Feet
This one usually gets extra credit with grandparents. An adorable fall/halloween gift and keepsake. I wish I would have done this craft for my kiddos first Halloween. I think it is pretty self explanatory, but all you need is a canvas (pick your size), orange and black paint, and maybe a stencil if you want more uniformed letters. A wonderful way to remember how small they are - because as we all know they grow up way to fast!
4. Pumpkin Crayon Melts
I love this idea. Fun to teach kids how a solid form can change, as well as how different colors together make a new color. I let me kids pick out their favorite colors and lay it on the pumpkin. If you have a plastic pumpkin from Hobby Lobby you can just put it on a wax piece of paper and use a hair dryer to melt. I also want to try using a Real small white pumpkin from the grocery store, put on an old cookie sheet and just melt the crayons in the oven. I have yet to try that one though. If you try it let me know how it goes! A fun decoration for the kids room or playroom!
5. Pumpkin Painting
This one I like, well let's just be honest, because it is easy. And you can use whatever random craft supplies you have in your home. My daughter loves the glitter and we even use beads or jewels to decorate with a hot glue gun. A really fun and easy craft idea! Kids seem to love it and I love it even more outside on the patio with a tarp...
6. Haunted House
This one is a really fun idea to see your kiddos fun imagination come out. You can simply google halloween coloring sheet. Print out. And it is a good fine motor skill activity for your little ones with kid safe scissors. You will need some classic brown bag lunch bags, glue sticks, crayon or markers, and Halloween printouts for this one. And let their imaginations go wild. Fun to use afterwards with cars or with little figurines for imaginative play.
I hope you love these ideas as much as I do! Fun and easy is my motto! Especially when clean up is easy. I love the ideas of craft with my kids, but to be honest many times I don't do them because the clean up seem to out weigh it...unless I have had 3 cups of coffee! Let me know which one you are going to try and how it turns out!
Special thanks to these amazing blogs and their bloggers for fabulous ideas!
